The Royal Hospital School - a School that’s going places
Headmaster of the Royal Hospital School, Howard Blackett, is delighted with how well day pupils have integrated into the 700-pupil co-educational boarding and day school, located in 200 acres on the Peninsula. In September 2009 the School will be in its fourth year of accepting day pupils. “Our day pupils have been a real asset to the School and, without doubt, they have benefited from being part of the strong school community that is unique to boarding schools” Mr Blackett goes on to say, “our house system is such that all day pupils are part of a boarding house, and with the opportunity to do all their prep and activities school the routine is hugely attractive for working parents”.

The School is not only producing excellent academic achievement with a 94% pass rate at GCSE and 65-70% of pupils gaining A and B grades at A Level, but it is nationally renowned for its music, has exceptional sports facilities including RYA sailing tuition, outstanding art, design and technology, and an activity programme that keeps children inspired and busy.
Mr Blackett, who has sent his own three children to the School, says “it is a happy place and pupils have a real sense of belonging. My aim is to ensure that all pupils leave the school with a sense of achievement both academically and in sport, the arts and other extra-curricular activities. Our committed teachers, housemasters and housemistresses and personal tutors guide pupils during their time at the School and, in my experience, they grow to become well rounded, socially adept, confident and enthusiastic individuals”
