I started painting in my late 50's and have revelled in landscapes and waterscapes. My pictures build up in patterns of colour, and oil is my perfect medium.

Although I lost my heart many years ago to the Dorset landscapes of the Isle of Purbeck, I have come to love the less dramatic views of Suffolk with its wide estuaries and quiet shorelines.

I was born in Suffolk and have lived on the shotley Peninsula for over 40 years. the peninsula and the estuaries are an endless source of inspiration to me. The changing tides, weather and seasons provide an inexhaustable variety of colour and tone.

Almost all my work is done with the palette knife so the result is usually impressionist, and I hope it catches the feel of a view experienced in that first glance which absorbs the initial impact of shape and colour before you focus on the detail.
